I see nothing, and darkness surrounds me.
I feel no breeze, no air, and I see no light. Only darkness.
As I inhale, I watch a line of light appear. This line grows and reveals a horizon. I see a world beneath me when the light moves high overhead. T

MotherMy eyes searched the blank whiteness that covered my empty plate. I didn’t want to look up into the face of my father or my brother. All I saw was my white plate, my silver utensils and my small, empty, glass cup that had no liquid in it whatsoever. I noticed that Father had changed the tablecloth from its usual cherry red to a mournful black. My eyes searched the rest of the table and I saw Father’s dinner laid out in front of me. The sweet potatoes, the brilliant looking roast beef that had been perfectly cut by Father, the vegetables in a pot that was close to brother and the tall gravy boat that was filled to the brim.
